Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor: New York City’s ‘Dentists to the Stars’ for Natural-Looking Porcelain Veneers Crafted by a Master Ceramist Since the 1980s

The best dentist for porcelain veneers combines experienced clinicians with exceptional cosmetic dental services, including an in-house master ceramist who hand-crafts every restoration. At Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor (LLK), Drs. Marc Lowenberg, Gregg Lituchy, and Brian Kantor collaborate with our in-house laboratory team of eight technicians to create natural-looking porcelain veneers. Our technicians hand-layer feldspathic porcelain to achieve the depth, translucency, and subtle variations that help each restoration resemble natural enamel.

Every porcelain veneer case at Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor benefits from the combined “ego-less” collaboration between Drs. Marc Lowenberg, Gregg Lituchy, and Brian Kantor. Our doctors combine their expertise to plan treatment and create natural-looking veneers tailored to each patient’s dental needs and aesthetic goals.

At LLK, we call our cosmetic philosophy the “perfectly imperfect smile.” Instead of creating uniformly white, identical teeth, we design veneers with subtle variations in shape, texture, translucency, and color so the final result resembles healthy natural enamel rather than an obviously restored smile.

Before beginning irreversible tooth preparation (when needed), we provide a live composite-resin preview during your cosmetic consultation. This lets you evaluate the proposed shape, size, and length of your veneers directly on your teeth. After preparation, you can further assess and refine the design while wearing temporary veneers for approximately two weeks before final porcelain placement.

Key Takeaways

  • When choosing a dentist for veneers, prioritize artistry and materials over price or location. Many patients choose LLK for natural-looking results, not because it offers the lowest fees or the closest office.
  • Our in-house laboratory team of eight technicians hand-layers feldspathic porcelain veneers to reproduce the translucency, depth, and natural variations of tooth enamel. Working directly with our dentists, the team can refine each restoration’s shape, shade, and fit without relying on an outside laboratory.
  • At LLK, you approve your smile before it is permanent. The wax-up-to-temporaries preview lets you wear and approve the shape, size, length, and color for roughly two weeks before the final veneers are bonded.
  • Porcelain veneers are a long-term investment. With proper care, they typically last 15 to 20 years, though results vary by individual. As of 2026, porcelain veneers generally cost $4,000 to $5,000 per tooth, depending on treatment complexity and the number of restorations.
  • Our practice has pioneered cosmetic dentistry since the 1980s, with Dr. Brian Kantor joining Drs. Marc Lowenberg and Gregg Lituchy in 2002. Today, our three partners collaborate on patient cases, supported by in-house laboratory, periodontal, and endodontic services.

Why Should the Best Dentist for Veneers Be a Skilled Cosmetic Artist?

The best dentist for veneers should be a skilled cosmetic artist because natural-looking porcelain veneers depend as much on artistic smile design as on clinical precision.

Creating veneers that disappear into a patient’s smile requires more than preparing teeth and bonding porcelain. It requires understanding how light interacts with enamel, how tooth proportions complement facial features, and how subtle asymmetry makes a smile appear authentic rather than manufactured.

At Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor (LLK), we approach cosmetic dentistry as both science and portraiture, combining decades of clinical experience with individualized smile design.

Veneers that lack translucency sit flat and obvious on the tooth. When they are overly opaque and uniform, built without regard for how light travels, they announce the procedure to everyone who sees you. The teeth look blocky and unmistakably “done” because they do not transmit light the way natural enamel does.

At LLK, our in-house laboratory team of eight technicians handcrafts feldspathic porcelain veneers through a layered ceramic technique. Feldspathic porcelain lets light pass through the restoration like natural enamel, creating subtle depth and translucency.

By individually layering porcelain rather than relying on standardized designs, our technicians can customize each veneer’s optical characteristics to complement the surrounding teeth.

The best dentist for veneers also designs the smile around the individual, not around a template. LLK’s doctors study each patient’s face shape, skin tone, eye color, and personality, then design the smile around those features rather than imposing a template.

Our practice calls this philosophy the “perfectly imperfect smile,” intentionally preserving subtle variations in tooth anatomy so the final result looks like the patient’s own smile rather than a perfectly uniform set of prosthetic teeth.

Over more than four decades, this artistry-driven approach has earned recognition from Good Morning America, The View, Vogue, The New York Times, GQ, and Allure, reflecting our practice’s long-standing reputation in cosmetic dentistry. The best porcelain veneers are the ones people never recognize as veneers.

What Are Porcelain Veneers and What Can They Fix?

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin feldspathic porcelain shells bonded to the front surface of teeth that can fix discoloration, chips, worn teeth, gaps, uneven shapes, short teeth, and the appearance of mild misalignment in a single smile makeover.

At LLK, our in-house laboratory team of eight technicians hand-layers feldspathic porcelain veneers to recreate the translucency, depth, and subtle color variations of the tooth’s natural surface. This technique gives our technicians precise control over each restoration’s appearance, allowing them to customize the veneers to your surrounding teeth and facial features.

We consider porcelain veneers the “Rolls-Royce of cosmetic dentistry,” underscoring our commitment to meticulous craftsmanship, customization, and lifelike aesthetics over standardized production.

Porcelain veneers can address a wide range of concerns, often together in one coordinated design:

  • Deep discoloration that whitening cannot fix: When teeth are stained by years of coffee, tea, red wine, or smoking, or darken with age, professional whitening may not reach the brightness you want. Veneers can mask discoloration that doesn’t respond well to whitening, with the material and shade selected to achieve the desired result.
  • Chips, cracks, and worn-down teeth: Teeth chip from accidents, wear down from grinding, or fracture at the edges over time. Veneers restore tooth length and shape, giving your smile a more youthful appearance.
  • Gaps and spaces between teeth: Whether it is a single gap between the front teeth or several spaces, porcelain veneers close them by redesigning each tooth’s width and contact for a continuous smile line.
  • Uneven or crooked teeth: Veneers can make mildly crooked or uneven teeth appear straighter in about two weeks without physically moving them, an effect we call “instant orthodontics.” Unlike orthodontic treatment, which repositions teeth, porcelain veneers change the shape and appearance of their visible surfaces.
  • Misshapen or short teeth: Some teeth are naturally small, stubby, or irregular. Veneers can lengthen misshapen teeth and refine their proportions to harmonize with your face and the rest of your smile.
  • A gummy smile: When too much gum shows, we perform gum contouring (a gum lift) alongside veneer placement to rebalance the tooth-to-gum ratio.

A full smile makeover can address all of these at once, in one design, rather than fixing teeth one at a time with mismatched solutions. Every porcelain veneer at LLK follows a “perfectly imperfect smile” philosophy, incorporating subtle variations in shape, texture, and edge anatomy so the final result resembles healthy natural teeth rather than a perfectly uniform set of restorations.

What Kind of Dentist Should You See for Veneers?

The kind of dentist you should see for veneers is a cosmetic dentist who specializes in porcelain veneers, rather than a general dentist who occasionally performs cosmetic procedures.

General dentists are skilled in routine care, but smile design requires a different eye and a different set of systems developed over decades.

When you make a significant, irreversible investment in your smile, choose a cosmetic dentist whose practice centers on porcelain veneers for focused experience, established aesthetic protocols, and a treatment process designed to deliver natural-looking results.

A few practical signs can help you distinguish a true veneers specialist from a general dental office that offers cosmetic dentistry as one of many services:

  • Ask to see a portfolio of the dentist’s own before-and-after cases, not stock images, and look for natural, varied results rather than a single Hollywood-white template repeated on every patient.
  • Ask whether veneers are fabricated in-house or shipped to an outside lab, and how adjustments are handled if the shade or fit is not right.
  • Pay attention to the consultation itself. A specialist listens to your goals, previews the result, and honestly explains candidacy, rather than moving straight to a quote.

Another factor worth considering is an in-house dental laboratory. It allows dentists and technicians to communicate directly about veneer design. At Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor, our eight-technician laboratory team works alongside our dentists, allowing us to coordinate shade, translucency, shape, and fit, and make appropriate on-site refinements when possible.

Our laboratory’s craftsmanship includes master ceramist Jason J. Kim, CDT, known as “The Maestro” and described by Departures magazine as the “Picasso of his field.”

Our collaborative approach also brings together the experience of our three partners, Drs. Marc Lowenberg, Gregg Lituchy, and Brian Kantor, who contribute their individual clinical expertise to patient treatment planning.

Drs. Lowenberg and Kantor trained at New York University College of Dentistry, while Dr. Lituchy earned his dental degree from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery. All three are active members of the American Dental Association and several other professional organizations.

For patients with more complex needs, an integrated cosmetic practice’s advantages become even more apparent. Conditions such as active gum disease, a gummy smile, or root problems often require care from a periodontist or endodontist.

While many cosmetic practices refer patients to outside specialists, our in-house periodontist and endodontist at Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor provide gum reshaping, dental implant support, and root canal treatment under one roof. This allows us to coordinate specialty care with your cosmetic treatment plan when needed.

How Does LLK’s Eight-Technician In-House Laboratory Improve Porcelain Veneer Treatment?

LLK’s eight-technician in-house laboratory improves porcelain veneer treatment by allowing our dentists and technicians to collaborate directly on design, fabrication, and refinements. Instead of relying on an outside laboratory, we coordinate shade, translucency, shape, and fit in the same practice, helping maintain consistency from initial smile design through final placement.

Jason J. Kim, one of our technicians, studied under master ceramist Willi Geller from 1994 to 1997, has served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Oral Design International Foundation since 1997, and is a member of the American Society for Dental Aesthetics.

Our technicians use feldspathic hand-layering to recreate the depth and translucency of natural enamel. They apply and fire thin porcelain layers, creating subtle variations in color and light transmission that give each veneer a lifelike appearance.

Unlike restorations milled from a single ceramic block, this technique lets us precisely control the porcelain’s optical characteristics. While machine-milled and pressed ceramics can also produce natural-looking results, the layered approach helps us avoid the overly uniform, opaque appearance sometimes associated with artificial-looking veneers.

Having our laboratory on-site also makes adjustments more convenient. If a veneer needs a change in shade, contour, or fit, our dentists and technicians can evaluate it together and, when possible, make appropriate refinements during your appointment.

Some adjustments may require additional fabrication time, but direct communication helps reduce unnecessary delays and keeps the final restorations aligned with your approved smile design.

What Is the LLK Veneer Process, From Consultation to Final Placement?

The LLK veneer process, from consultation to final placement, involves two office visits spaced about one to two weeks apart, allowing patients to preview and approve their new smile before any permanent porcelain is bonded.

Our process gives you opportunities to evaluate the proposed smile design before tooth preparation and refine it further while wearing temporary veneers. These approval stages help you make informed decisions before your permanent porcelain veneers are bonded.

Your first appointment opens with a full facial and smile assessment. The doctors study your face shape, skin tone, the whites of your eyes, and your personality to ensure the veneers complement your individual features rather than impose a generic “Hollywood” look.

Next comes the live composite-resin preview that sets LLK apart. During the consultation, the doctors sculpt tooth-colored bonding directly onto your teeth, giving you a real preview of how a new shape, size, and length will change your smile.

You see it in the mirror, on your own face, with your own eyes, not through video imaging or a computer mockup. This temporary bonding is painless, easy to remove, and carries no commitment.

Once you approve the proposed design, we proceed with tooth preparation when needed. Our approach is deliberately conservative, typically removing about half a millimeter from the outer tooth surface. Some patients may qualify for prepless veneers that require no enamel removal. When preparation is necessary, we use local anesthesia to keep you comfortable.

Unlike full-coverage crowns, veneers generally preserve more natural tooth structure. That said, any enamel removal is irreversible, so we carefully evaluate your teeth and discuss the treatment plan before proceeding.

After preparation, we create a wax-up of your approved design that serves as the blueprint for your temporary veneers. Master ceramist Jason J. Kim and the in-house laboratory fabricate these temporaries, which you wear for approximately two weeks before the final porcelain is made.

During that time, you live with the shape, size, length, and color: you smile in the mirror, speak, eat, and photograph yourself. If you want a change, perhaps a slightly narrower width or a lighter shade, you request it before the final porcelain is made. This trial period helps reduce the chance of an unexpected final result.

About two weeks later, you return for final placement. The doctors remove the temporaries and prepare the teeth for bonding. Jason’s hand-layered feldspathic veneers are bonded with composite resin cement and cured with a dental curing light.

Because the lab is in-house, the team can make final shade or fit adjustments during the appointment, with no delay at an outside lab, ensuring your final result matches the preview you approved.

With good oral hygiene and regular dental care, the finished veneers are highly stain-resistant and typically last 15 to 20 years or longer.

Porcelain veneers are not permanent, but enamel removal is irreversible when preparation is required. Because enamel does not grow back, we build multiple approval stages into the treatment process to help you make an informed decision before the final veneers are bonded.

By the time your permanent veneers are placed, you have already lived with the design, refined it if necessary, and approved exactly what you will receive. This deliberate process helps replace uncertainty with confidence before treatment becomes permanent.

What Happens at the Veneer Consultation?

At your LLK veneer consultation, we discuss your smile goals, evaluate your facial features and dental health, and provide a live preview of your proposed smile before any irreversible tooth preparation.

We assess concerns such as discoloration, tooth shape, spacing, length, and apparent alignment to determine whether porcelain veneers can achieve your goals. We also explain your treatment options so you can make an informed decision.

The defining part of the LLK veneer consultation is the live composite-resin demonstration. Rather than relying solely on photographs, digital imaging, or computer simulations, the doctors apply tooth-colored composite directly to your teeth to show the proposed shape, size, and proportions of your smile.

Because the material is applied directly to the teeth, patients can evaluate the design while speaking, smiling, and looking in the mirror. The composite bonding is completely temporary, easily removed at the end of the appointment, and does not permanently alter the teeth.

The experience can be unexpectedly emotional because patients see a realistic preview of their future smile for the first time. As Dr. Lituchy told Coveteur, “Sometimes I give someone the mirror, and I show them their new teeth, and they cry.”

If you feel anxious about dental work, the consultation is a calm, unhurried conversation focused on what you want, with listening and showing rather than selling.

What Is the 4-8-10 Rule for Veneers?

The 4-8-10 “rule” for veneers is a practical guideline some cosmetic dentists use to estimate how many porcelain veneers a smile correction typically requires.

Four veneers typically cover the upper central and lateral incisors. Eight veneers extend treatment farther across the visible smile, often including the canines and first premolars. Ten veneers may extend coverage to the second premolars, depending on tooth display and individual anatomy. These numbers are planning guidelines, not fixed treatment requirements.

At Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor, we typically recommend about 10 porcelain veneers for the upper arch and eight for the lower arch in a complete smile makeover, depending on the patient’s needs.

These are planning guidelines rather than templates. The exact number of porcelain veneers depends on each patient’s smile width, tooth display, existing dental condition, and cosmetic goals, all of which the dentist evaluates during the cosmetic consultation before recommending a personalized treatment plan.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

A good candidate for porcelain veneers has healthy gums, sufficient tooth structure for reliable bonding, and realistic expectations about cosmetic treatment. During your consultation, we evaluate your teeth, gums, bite, and smile goals to determine whether veneers are appropriate.

Enamel condition matters because porcelain veneers generally bond most reliably to healthy enamel. Our conservative preparation typically removes about half a millimeter from the outer tooth surface, although some patients may qualify for prepless veneers. Teeth with severe enamel erosion or structural damage may require another restorative approach.

Healthy gums are equally important. Active gum disease must be treated and resolved before veneers are placed, as stable, healthy tissue is required for proper bonding and long-term results. Our in-house periodontist can evaluate and treat periodontal concerns before we proceed with cosmetic veneer treatment.

Teeth with extensive decay or serious structural weakness may simply lack the surface area to support a veneer. In those cases, restorative dentistry options such as dental crowns, dental bonding, dental implants, or dentures may be a better route, and the doctors identify this during the initial evaluation and guide you toward the solution that fits your dental health.

Bruxism, or teeth grinding, is another concern many patients ask about, but it doesn’t automatically rule out veneers. Many patients who grind their teeth can successfully wear porcelain veneers when they also use a custom night guard. The appliance helps distribute biting forces, reduces stress on the restorations, and can extend the veneers’ lifespan.

Another important consideration is the long-term commitment. When veneer placement requires enamel removal, the change is irreversible because natural enamel does not grow back. While some patients may qualify for prepless veneers, all veneers require ongoing care and may eventually need replacement.

How Long Do Porcelain Veneers Last and Are They Worth It?

Porcelain veneers typically last 15 to 20 years, with some lasting up to 30 years, and many patients find them worth the investment because they provide long-lasting cosmetic results when properly cared for.

The lifespan of porcelain veneers depends on several factors, including porcelain quality, bonding technique, bite forces, oral hygiene, regular dental care, and habits such as teeth grinding.

At Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor (LLK), our in-house laboratory team of eight technicians hand-layers feldspathic porcelain veneers as part of our commitment to precision craftsmanship and natural-looking, long-lasting results.

The long-term value of porcelain veneers becomes especially clear when compared with repeated teeth whitening. Bleached teeth can discolor within months, especially for anyone who drinks coffee, tea, or red wine, and many patients end up in a cycle of repeated bleaching that never delivers lasting results.

In contrast, porcelain veneers can stay stain-resistant for 10 or more years, although their appearance also depends on oral hygiene, the condition of the bonded margins, and long-term maintenance. Continue regular dental care and limit habits that could discolor surrounding natural teeth.

Porcelain veneers are a long-term investment, not a short-term cosmetic treatment. As of 2026, porcelain veneers in New York City typically cost $4,000 to $5,000 per tooth, with the final cost depending on the number of veneers, treatment complexity, and the patient’s goals.

A comprehensive smile makeover often includes 18 to 20 veneers, though some patients may require fewer depending on how much of their smile is visible.

Over 15 to 20 years or more, many patients view porcelain veneers as a durable alternative to repeated whitening, composite bonding, or other cosmetic procedures that generally require more frequent maintenance or replacement.

During the cosmetic consultation, after the doctors evaluate your smile and discuss your goals, they determine the final treatment plan, the number of veneers, and the total investment.

How Do Veneers Compare With Bonding, Whitening, and Braces?

Compared with bonding, whitening, and braces, porcelain veneers offer a longer-lasting, more comprehensive cosmetic solution that can address multiple smile concerns at once.

Many patients come to their cosmetic consultation after trying one or more of these treatments, and understanding how veneers compare helps clarify when they make the most sense.

Each treatment has its own strengths, depending on the problem being treated:

  • Dental bonding may help fix small chips, minor gaps, and localized repairs.
  • Professional teeth whitening brightens stained teeth but cannot change their shape or alignment.
  • Braces can straighten teeth by gradually moving them into position.
  • Dental crowns restore structurally damaged or weakened teeth.
  • Dentures replace missing teeth.

Porcelain veneers differ because they can address multiple cosmetic concerns simultaneously, including discoloration, chips, worn edges, gaps, uneven teeth, and mild misalignment.

Dental bonding is often the closest cosmetic alternative to veneers because both improve the appearance of existing teeth. Bonding uses composite resin applied directly to the tooth during a single appointment, making it a good option for smaller cosmetic corrections.

One important difference is how the materials interact with light. Hand-layered feldspathic porcelain can reproduce the depth and translucency of natural enamel more closely than composite resin bonding, making it particularly suitable for comprehensive cosmetic restorations.

Composite is also porous and stains easily with coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco, and it typically lasts 5 to 10 years before chipping or discoloration requires replacement. For a durable, natural-looking result across several teeth, bonding works better for small repairs than a full transformation.

Teeth whitening offers another conservative option, but it only addresses tooth color. Professional teeth whitening can last six months to three years, while at-home products may fade within months, especially if you regularly drink coffee, tea, or red wine. That can mean repeating treatments just to maintain the same shade.

In contrast, porcelain veneers are highly durable and can last 15 to 20 years with proper care, though results vary.

Orthodontic treatment addresses an entirely different problem by physically moving teeth into alignment. Traditional braces typically take about 20 months, and Invisalign often runs 12 to 18 months, with complex cases stretching to three years.

In contrast, porcelain veneers cannot move teeth, but they can create the appearance of a straighter smile in about two weeks by reshaping the visible surfaces of the teeth. Some call porcelain veneers “instant orthodontics.” A complete smile makeover can be done in two office visits, one to two weeks apart, with no brackets, wires, or aligner trays.

Dental crowns and dentures serve different purposes altogether. Crowns cap the entire tooth and require removing far more structure than a veneer, typically 1.5 to 2 millimeters or more from every side. Meanwhile, dentures replace missing teeth altogether.

Porcelain veneers typically require minimal tooth preparation, often removing about half a millimeter from the tooth’s outer surface. Some cases may be prepless. This generally preserves more natural tooth structure than a full-coverage crown, especially when minimal-prep or no-prep techniques are appropriate.

Why Do Patients Choose Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor for Their Veneers?

Patients choose Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor for their veneers because we combine an eight-technician in-house laboratory, collaborative treatment planning, more than 40 years of cosmetic dentistry experience, and a long-standing commitment to natural-looking smile makeovers.

  • An on-site dental lab

Our in-house lab technicians handcraft feldspathic porcelain veneers, working directly with our cosmetic dentists instead of sending restorations to an outside lab.

Most cosmetic dentists send veneer cases off-site, which can cause shipping delays and reduce control over the final look. Because our technicians work on-site, we can make same-visit refinements to shape, shade, or fit immediately.

  • A three-partner treatment approach

Drs. Marc Lowenberg, Gregg Lituchy, and Brian Kantor collaborate on patient cases, bringing their combined clinical experience and aesthetic judgment to treatment planning. This team-based approach allows us to consider multiple perspectives when designing a smile, rather than relying on a single clinician’s assessment.

  • 40+ years of cosmetic dentistry experience

LLK has led porcelain-veneer smile makeovers since the 1980s, making it a 40-plus-year pioneer of the technique most cosmetic dentists now use. That depth translates into refined technique, predictable outcomes, and a patient base spanning decades.

  • An independently reported roster

Martha Stewart has written about her long-standing relationship with our practice. At the same time, Coveteur has reported that our patients include Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Chris Rock, Julianna Margulies, and members of the New York Knicks. Regardless of their public profile, we provide the same personalized cosmetic care to every patient.

  • The same standard for every patient

At Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor, celebrity patients represent only about 1% of the people we treat. As we’ve said: “We care about the other 99%, because those are the people we want to make look like celebrities, or at least have a smile that looks like a celebrity’s.”

Whether you’re a public figure or a social worker, you benefit from the same smile design philosophy, collaboration among our three partners, and the craftsmanship of our in-house laboratory team.

What Do Patients Say About Their LLK Veneer Results?

Read what our patients say, and one theme runs through nearly every story: the change goes far beyond appearance and affects how freely people show up in daily life.

Lizabeth Z., a patient of Dr. Kantor, arrived with several concerns: a chipped front tooth, a gap between her front teeth, crooked bottom teeth, a crossbite, and worn, yellowed teeth that made her hide her smile. After three visits, including the consultation, she left with permanent porcelain veneers she calls “better than I ever imagined.”

Donna O’s experience shows why smile design specialization matters. As she puts it, “Dr. Lituchy inherited me many years ago when a string of prior dentists, despite being highly competent professionals, could not solve my dental issues and achieve the natural look that I wanted.”

Many LLK patients have remained with the practice for 25, 30, and even 33 years, suggesting relationships built on long-term trust rather than one-time cosmetic treatment.

Beyond the procedure itself, many patients worry about one question before treatment begins: What if I don’t love my veneers?

We understand that patients want to feel confident about their results before committing to porcelain veneers. That is why our process includes a live composite-resin preview and temporary veneers, giving you opportunities to evaluate the proposed shape, size, and appearance before final placement.

If adjustments are needed, we discuss the available options based on your clinical circumstances. We may be able to replace bonded veneers, but it requires additional treatment and isn’t a substitute for careful planning from the start.

That freedom is the real outcome. As Janet W. describes it, “I am no longer self-conscious when I smile. I just know that my teeth look great and that I can stop worrying if they look good enough. I am thrilled with my fresh smile.”

What Kinds of Smile Transformations Does LLK Perform Before and After Veneers?

LLK performs before-and-after smile transformations with veneers for concerns such as gummy smiles, chipped or worn teeth, gaps, discoloration, tooth rotation, crowding, and age-related changes. Depending on the patient’s needs, the practice may also combine porcelain veneers with complementary procedures to create a more balanced result.

Rather than following a standard template, LLK tailors each porcelain veneer placement and any complementary procedure to the specific issues a patient walks in with. These before-and-after cases show how that individualized approach can look in practice:

  • Brittany: A gummy smile made her teeth appear smaller than they were. LLK combined gum contouring with porcelain veneers to reduce excess gum display, improve tooth proportions, and create a more balanced smile.
  • Jeff: Years of stress-related grinding had shortened and chipped his front teeth. LLK restored their length, shape, and color with porcelain veneers, then provided a custom night guard to help protect the restorations from future wear.
  • Jessica: Her primary concern was the spaces between her front teeth. LLK used porcelain veneers to close the gaps and create the appearance of a naturally aligned smile without orthodontic treatment.
  • Zora: The model presented with crowding, tooth rotation, and discoloration affecting both arches. Eileen Ford, founder of the Ford Modeling Agency, entrusted her to LLK. The treatment combined upper and lower porcelain veneers to improve alignment, tooth proportions, and overall smile aesthetics in one coordinated makeover.
  • Barbara: Age-related discoloration, chipped teeth, and excess gum display had changed her smile’s appearance over time. LLK combined gum contouring with porcelain veneers to restore brighter tooth color, more balanced proportions, and a more youthful appearance.

No two of these results look alike, which is the heart of the “perfectly imperfect smile” philosophy: every smile is designed for the individual, never stamped from a template. To see the full range of transformations, browse the complete before-and-after gallery on the LLK website.

If you’re wondering which approach would work best for your smile, schedule a consultation with Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor. Discuss your goals, explore your treatment options, and preview your proposed smile before deciding whether veneers are right for you.

Ready to See Your New Smile? Schedule Your LLK Consultation

If you’re ready to see what a more confident smile could look like, scheduling a cosmetic consultation with the doctors at Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor is the first step.

You’ll have the chance to discuss your goals, ask questions, and explore whether porcelain veneers are right for you. There’s no pressure to move forward. Instead, you’ll receive personalized recommendations and a preview of your proposed smile before making any permanent decisions.

During your consultation, we apply composite resin directly to your teeth so you can preview the proposed shape, size, and length of your veneers in the mirror. The demonstration is temporary and easily removed, allowing you to discuss adjustments before treatment. Your final porcelain veneers are customized to the approved design, although their shade, translucency, and surface details may differ from the composite preview.

As a full-service practice, we bring together our cosmetic dentists, in-house periodontist, endodontist, and eight-technician laboratory team to coordinate your smile design and treatment. When periodontal, endodontic, or restorative care is needed, we can provide many of these services under one roof, depending on your individual needs.

Is Composite Resin Bonding a Good Alternative for Minor Corrections?

Composite resin bonding is a good alternative for minor cosmetic corrections, such as chipped teeth and small gaps, especially when porcelain veneers are unnecessary. At Lowenberg, Lituchy & Kantor (LLK), the procedure is typically completed in a single visit, usually without anesthesia. The dentist applies tooth-colored composite resin directly to the tooth, then sculpts and polishes it to restore a natural shape and appearance.

Compared with porcelain veneers, bonding is faster and less invasive, making it practical for minor cosmetic concerns. It does come with trade-offs, though. Composite resin generally cannot reproduce the same depth and translucency as hand-layered feldspathic porcelain, and bonding “only lasts for a limited time, and easily chips or stains.” In contrast, porcelain veneers can last 15 to 20 years or longer with proper care, although individual results vary.

At LLK, we offer composite resin bonding to repair chipped teeth and close minor gaps, but we do not offer composite veneers. During a cosmetic consultation, the doctors evaluate your teeth’s condition, the extent of your cosmetic concern, and your long-term goals to determine whether composite bonding or porcelain veneers is the better treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Finding the Best Dentist for Veneers

Why do dentists advise against veneers?

Dentists advise against veneers when teeth or gums aren’t healthy enough to support them, or when a patient isn’t a suitable candidate for irreversible cosmetic treatment. Severe tooth decay or structurally weakened teeth reduce candidacy because veneers bond to healthy enamel and cannot hold without enough sound surface area.

Active gum disease is another: veneers don’t address underlying periodontal problems and will not last on diseased tissue. And veneer preparation is irreversible, since removing even a thin layer of enamel cannot be undone.

A responsible cosmetic dentist explains when veneers may not be appropriate and recommends treatment only after evaluating your oral health and cosmetic goals.

For suitable candidates, we generally use conservative preparation, removing about half a millimeter from the tooth’s outer surface when needed. Some patients qualify for prepless veneers. Our consultation preview lets you evaluate the proposed smile design before irreversible preparation, and temporary veneers offer another chance to refine it before final bonding.

Will my veneers look fake?

Your veneers shouldn’t look fake when they are designed to match your natural teeth, facial features, and smile, not a standard cosmetic template.

Our in-house laboratory team hand-layers feldspathic porcelain to recreate the translucency and depth of natural enamel. This technique helps avoid the overly opaque, uniform appearance that can make veneers look artificial.

The “perfectly imperfect smile” philosophy then builds in subtle irregularities by design, and the result looks like a smile you were born with rather than the result of an obvious procedure.

You also preview the outcome before committing: during your cosmetic consultation, the dentist sculpts composite resin onto your teeth, and you then wear wax-up-based temporary veneers for roughly two weeks, living with and approving the length, color, and overall look. Once you approve the design, our in-house laboratory team of eight technicians handcrafts your final feldspathic porcelain veneers to reflect your preferred shape, shade, and proportions.

Can you combine veneers with other treatments?

You can combine porcelain veneers at LLK with other treatments, such as a gum lift (gum contouring), to address multiple smile concerns in a single coordinated plan. For example, LLK combined a gum lift with veneers in Brittany’s case to reduce excess gum display, reveal more tooth surface, and create a more balanced smile.

Because our team includes a periodontist and an endodontist, we can coordinate many gum and root-related treatments within our practice. This integrated approach simplifies planning and reduces the need for outside referrals, depending on each patient’s clinical needs.

During your consultation, the doctors apply composite resin directly to your teeth as a live preview, so you can see how different shapes and sizes look before you commit to anything permanent.

How do you care for porcelain veneers?

You care for porcelain veneers by brushing twice a day, flossing once daily, attending regular dental checkups, and avoiding excessive biting forces. Brush with a non-abrasive toothpaste to protect the porcelain surface and the bonded margins of your veneers. Avoid abrasive whitening toothpastes, which can scratch feldspathic porcelain and dull the translucency that keeps LLK veneers looking natural. Schedule regular professional cleanings and checkups so your dentist can monitor each veneer and catch any early issues at the bonded edge. If you grind your teeth at night, LLK fits a custom night guard to absorb the force and protect your veneers. With consistent oral hygiene and care, porcelain veneers last 15 to 20 years, and sometimes longer.

Do veneers hurt?

Veneers shouldn’t hurt during the procedure because local anesthesia keeps you comfortable, though you may have mild, temporary sensitivity afterward. LLK’s tooth preparation is very conservative, removing about half a millimeter from the outer surface and sometimes requiring no preparation at all.

After the first treatment visit, you typically wear temporary veneers for about two weeks while our in-house laboratory team of eight technicians crafts your final porcelain restorations.

Some mild temperature or pressure sensitivity during that phase is normal and usually settles once the final veneers are bonded. The temporary period doubles as your live preview, during which you can still adjust shape, size, length, and color before anything permanent is placed.

Are dental veneers covered by insurance?

Dental veneers are generally not covered by insurance when performed for cosmetic reasons, and purely cosmetic veneers are generally not eligible for Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) benefits. Exceptions may apply if treatment is medically necessary, so check with your insurer and plan administrator. As of 2026, porcelain veneers in New York City typically range from $4,000 to $5,000 per tooth, although your actual investment depends on the number of veneers and the complexity of your treatment plan.
